Hong Kong/Tokyo (February 19, 2025) — The Asian Film Awards Academy (AFAA) announced today that the AFA Rising Star Awrad will be presented to Japan’s all-round artist, Kōki,.
Kōki, expressed her gratitude in receiving this award. She shared, “I feel extremely privileged and humbled to receive this recognition and the Rising Star Award. Being honored outside Japan at such a prestigious event means so much to me. I sincerely thank the Asian Film Awards from the bottom of my heart.”
This accolade recognizes blooming talent in the film industry who have shown exceptional potential, with hopes they will continue to make an impact on both Asian and international stages. Previous winners of this award include talented artists such as Lin Jelly in the 11th edition in 2017, Park Seo-joon in the 13th edition in 2019, and Win Metawin in the 17th edition in 2024. Kōki, will be the second Japanese artist to receive this honor, and her future is certainly one to watch. She has confirmed her attendance at the awards ceremony in Hong Kong this March, where she will join the audience to celebrate this exciting event in Asian cinema.
Showing her musical talent from the age of 7, Kōki, composed hit songs for famous Japanese artists. At 15, she made her model debut on the cover of ELLE Japon, quickly establishing herself as a fashion icon and becoming the brand ambassador of international brands, highlighting her unique style and growing influence. After achieving impressive success in both music and fashion, Kōki, made her acting debut in the horror film Ox-Head Village in 2022 and impressed audiences by playing dual roles, earning the Japan’s Blue Ribbon Award for Best Newcomer. She then starred in Touch, an international co-production between Iceland and United Kingdom as well as stared in the British film Tornado, which will have its world premiere as the opening gala at the Glasgow Film Festival in February. Kōki, also stars in the upcoming Japanese film True Beauty, an adaptation of the popular South Korean webtoon of the same name. Known for her fashion persona, she now embraces a completely different role, revealing a new side of her talent.
